Hong Kong <<Photos>>
Hustle, bustle - all humanity is in Kowloon.
Another favourite, even though Hong Kong is really too hectic for me to "settle" there.

Best memories:
Not so favourite was contracting pneumonia while in Hong Kong in June 1997, luckily the symptoms did not show until I got home - I was out of action for five weeks !

Best memories:
- Being privileged to spend the Lunar New Year in 1997 (year of the hand over to China). Great flower festival, spectacular firework display. "Kung Xai Fa Choi".
- The spectacular view from The Peak, and the funicular railway to the summit. Walking down through several parks one night (against all advice) to avoid a delay of about two hours waiting for a return ride.
- Visiting the restored villa where one of the Tiger Balm brothers lived.
- Meeting some Cub Scout leaders in a park and being told that they had 70 boys in their pack.
- The trams
- The Star Ferries, most of which were to be older than me
- The No. 8 bus ride from Central to Stanley (NOT the express service) - what a white knuckle ride !
- Dim Sum breakfasts on Saturday morning
- The Jumbo Floating Restaurant in Aberdeen
- Every one of the 1 million commuters to Hong Kong Island wanting to eat lunch at the same time as me
- Seeing that a salad from the salad bar at Pizza Hut can be made a good 8 inches high if you stack the sticks of celery right around your bowl.
- The Buddha Statue on Lantau Island and lunch with the monks
- Flying into the old airport and seeing the washing hanging out on the tenement blocks
- The "new" airport at Lantau
- Another Science Centre
- Another fine MTR train system
- The two for one beer offers at the Park Lane Hotel bar
