Holiday - Europe
Austria
1984 (?) - First trip was in the Summer with Jo. Stayed at Mayerhofen, a very picturesque alpine village. Visited Innsbruck, Salzburg (Mozart country) and a glacier at 3000m.
I walked some hills. Enjoyed it.
1985 (?) - Jo and I went skiing with some friends Gary and Kim to Igls.
Put me off organised skiing for good - I was useless and got nowhere in the lessons - but enjoyed the actual sliding upon the snow on planks of wood when not in a tutor group.
Went down the Olympic Bob Sleigh course (from ladies start) - exhilarating or what ?
Paris
1982 - First wedding anniversary trip with Jo.
Loved the city, the sights and company.
Fabulous meal, I recall, on the Bateaux Mouches on the Seine.
Spain
1987 - Away with family : Jo, James, Mum, Jean and Dennis to a villa in Benalmadena Pueblo.
Very enjoyable, except for some words exchanged between Jo and Mum.
Visited Mijas, with it's small square bull ring and Malaga with it's very large and grand bullring.
Remember the restaurant in the square serving Prawn Pil-Pil (very garlicy) and the hunt for the "cheapest, best bottle of wine" contest with my Uncle Dennis.
Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague
1983 - Second anniversary break with Jo.
Took the ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. Got about on trains and trams.
Visited Anne Frank's House, the Heineken factory and diamond centre in Amsterdam.
Went to a great windmill in Rotterdam which was used for tobacco milling.
Remember an incredibly hot Turkish meal in The Hague.
