Bangkok
Before I say anything else, let me just say that most of the people in Bangkok are friendly and that the various temples and the Palace really are truly beautiful.
What I don't like about Bangkok is really the hassle and more seedy side of things. If I say "No" to invitations to go somewhere ride in their taxi, tuk-tuk, go for a drink, massage or to meet a lady, I just wish that the people (generally men) would accept that. The continual hassling from seemingly everyone on the street, I can do without.
The many men who I met must be the most generous to their wives any where in the world. "Hey, my friend. Let me take you to my cousin's jewellery shop - quality silver - only last week I brought my wife a beautiful ring from there - only US Dollar 250". I was fed this line by at least three different hustlers.
As I have said, the Grand Palace and numerous temples are magnificent.
A trip up country to visit the "Death Railway", the Bridge on the River Kwai and the war cemeteries is an incredibly humbling experience.
